Remaining is negative or the project shows over 100%

It is arithmetic, not a bug — here is what to do about it.

Steps

1. Earned passed the contract total, almost always because quantities ran past bid on a few items.
2. If the owner pays overruns at the unit price, nothing needs changing; the application bills the measured quantity.
3. If the overrun is a change, add the change order. The contract rises and the percentage settles back under 100.
