Keep your sell price above the sub's cost
The two prices are independent on purpose.
Steps
- Your unit price (the bid, or a billed-price override) is what the owner pays you. Set it on the line item.
- The sub's rate is what you pay the sub. Set it on the sub's item assignment.
- Changing one never changes the other, so the margin on an item is simply your price minus the sub's rate, times the quantity placed.
Good to know
- When a sub's pay app comes in at a rate that is not what you agreed, the import shows the rate it read next to yours — fix the assignment rate rather than the invoice.
